Overview
Photo Curator ("the App") is a personal tool created and operated by Todd Friedlich for his own personal use. The App connects to Google Photos to automatically curate the best photos from trips and events and create new albums.
Who uses this app
This App is used exclusively by its owner, Todd Friedlich, for personal photo management. It is not available to the general public, is not a commercial product, and does not have external users.
What data is accessed
The App accesses the following data from the authorized Google account:
- Photo metadata (dates, locations, camera settings) to detect notable events and trips
- Photo image data to analyze quality, remove duplicates, and select the best shots
- Google Photos albums to create new curated albums
How data is used
Photo and metadata are used solely to perform automated photo curation. Specifically:
- Photos are downloaded temporarily to a private server for analysis
- AI scoring is applied to select the best photos from a set
- A new curated album is created in the authorized Google Photos account
- Temporary photo files are deleted from the server immediately after the album is created
Data sharing
No data is shared with any third party. Photos, metadata, and Google account information are never sold, transferred, or disclosed to any outside party for any purpose.
Data storage
Photos are stored temporarily on a private server during processing only. They are automatically deleted once the curated album has been created. No permanent copy of any photo or personal data is retained outside of the authorized Google account.
OAuth tokens
The App stores a Google OAuth refresh token in a private environment variable to maintain access across sessions. This token is stored securely and is accessible only to the App owner. It can be revoked at any time via Google Account settings at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Third-party services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Google Photos API – to read and write photos and albums
- Anthropic Claude API – to analyze photo quality (images are sent to Anthropic's API for scoring; Anthropic's privacy policy applies)
- Railway – for application hosting (no photo data is stored persistently on Railway)
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim – for reverse geocoding GPS coordinates to location names
Your rights
As this App is used exclusively by its owner, all data accessed belongs to the App owner. Access can be revoked at any time by removing the App's permissions at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
